The Purpose of a Bus Shelter

In the heart of Sydney, on a bustling street packed with commuters and tourists, parents and children, a bus shelter waits. It’s waiting for you.

Everyday its dazzling display of technicoloured adverts tells the world about the latest things to buy - the trainers, holidays and washing powders. But this bus shelter knows it has a bigger purpose. It’s waiting for your ideas. It’s waiting for you.

For all its life, it’s been hearing words off the street. Young people pass it day and night talking of their hopes, their dreams, their opinions. It hears their big ideas and wild visions. It hears their potential. It knows young people could make a difference. Change the world.

But this bus shelter cannot talk. It cannot reach out to the young people to tell them it hears them. It has to stand and watch the brilliant ideas of youth pass it by. Young people aren’t being heard.

Until now.

This bus shelter wants to do what it does best: shout big ideas to the world. And it wants to display your work to the hundreds of people that walk past it everyday. It wants to share your voices.

So we’re looking to you, young people. Can you help our bus shelter fulfil its potential?

We want you to express your ideas. We want you to tell us your visions of the future. A certain bus shelter would be very grateful. After all, it could be sharing your visions on the streets of Sydney soon.

This November, we have 10 spots in cities across the world to fill for our Global Exhibition. From bus shelters to billboards, we’re going to be putting young people’s visions of the future up for every passer-by to see. Head to our webpage to find out how you can get involved: https://www.writeunite.org/2022-global-exhibition
